Management Team

Alan Duncan, Managing Director -  Alan has been involved in the Oil & Gas industry for fourteen years, primarily focused on wellhead hardware and the associated control systems and intervention equipment.
In the twelve months prior to founding impROV Alan managed the Intervention Systems Group at Kvaerner Oilfield Products Ltd. His responsibilities in that role were to manage a group of remote intervention specialists including Engineers, Designers, Manufacturing & Service personnel and a Sales Engineer.

Tim Gay, Director -  Tim has 16 years Mechanical Design and Project Management experience at a senior level, combined with 5 years Offshore ROV Operations. Specialist in Deepwater ROV installation, maintenance and retrieval techniques.
He is experienced in deepwater installation techniques, subsea control system design, specialist ROV tooling and ROV intervention systems.  Additionally he has direct experience of ROV hydrodynamics and thruster design, electro - mechanical systems, sealing technology, multiphase flow metering and light well intervention systems.
Prior to founding
impROV Tim spent twelve years with Kvaerner Oilfield Products Ltd and it’s predecessor FSSL, in a senior engineering role. He has been involved in the engineering and project management of some significant subsea equipments (most of which involved ROV deployed and operated tooling) including the worlds first retrievable subsea Multi-Phase Flowmeter and the worlds first “free flown” subsea Component Change-Out Tool.
Tim holds a BSc in Mechanical Engineering, has Chartered status and is a member of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers. In addition to
impROV and KOP he has worked for such notable employers as Subsea Offshore.

John Walker, Director – John is a hugely experienced design draughtsman, specialising in Remote Intervention Tooling Packages and the interfacing of these packages with Subsea Production Systems.
Before founding
impROV John spent 12 years with KOP and it’s predecessor FSSL where he undertook or supervised the drawing work on all the subsea tooling packages that Mr. Gay and Mr. Richards designed.
Prior to joining KOP (FSSL), John had fifteen years drawing office experience with Ferranti in Edinburgh.

Kevin Chambers, Director –  Kevin  is a qualified Electrical Engineer who holds a B.Eng (Hons). Kevin has five years experience of manufacturing and service activities relating to Remote Operated Tooling packages and Subsea Control Systems. Prior to founding impROV he spent four years within KOP where he was focused on Remote Intervention tools exclusively.
Despite his qualification being in 'Electrics' Kevin has an absolute command of practical mechanical engineering, both in a manufacturing and service application.

Peter Richards, Project Engineer -  Peter has 17 years experience of ROV systems and tooling prior to founding impROV.  Some ten years of this experience was with KOP and includes design, manufacture, commissioning and testing.  He has worked on ROV intervention tooling in a Senior Engineering and occasionally Project Management role:
Prior to specialising in tooling work, which has been the focus of attention for Peter over the last ten years, he was involved in project management and engineering activities related to the design and manufacture of both ROV’s and Subsea Production Control Systems.
Peter has also worked on some “world firsts” in the subsea engineering arena such as the worlds first “free flown” subsea Component Change-Out Tool. Peter holds a HND in Mechanical Engineering and in addition to impROV,  KOP and it’s predecessors has worked for such notable employers as GEC, Sonsub and Subsea Offshore.
