Class 1 to 4 Torque Tool System
Complete with Surface Turns Display
& proprietary Drive System that covers Classes 1 to 4 from a single motor.
Torque Tool
The torque tool consists of
a ‘low speed / high torque’ hydraulic motor, plus a 5:1 torque multiplier unit,
housed within an anodised aluminium body. The output of the torque multiplier is
coupled to a 17-4 PH stainless steel drive socket, which is designed to allow
simple change out between the three socket sizes –
5/8” Class 1 and 2 (Up to
200 ft.lbs / 270 Nm)
1 1/8” Class 3 (Up to 1000
ft.lbs / 1350 Nm)
1 ½” Class 4 (Up to 2000
ft.lbs / 2700 Nm)
Generally to
supply a torque tool to cover all classes from 1 to 4, a number of different
motors are required, which means, in most cases a strip down of the tool to
change classes. The
impROV
torque tool contains a hydraulically operated gearshift which
effectively bypasses the torque multiplier, providing two gearing levels
and effective torque control from 30 to 2000ft.lbs (40
to 2700 Nm)
The nose of the tool is
designed to fit the class 1 to 4 torque interface and is composed of an
aluminium main body with a replaceable plastic front section and stainless steel
torque reaction lugs. A pair of hydraulically actuated latching dogs are
situated in the reaction lugs, these allow the tool to be locked into an
interface, or a jumper etc. to be locked onto the tool. The latching dogs are
designed to be operated by a spare ROV hydraulic function, and provided this
utilises an open centre type solenoid valve, the latches will allow the tool to
be pulled free should an ROV system failure occur. The torque tool is provided
with a manipulator handle, the design of which can be varied as required.
The tool is fitted with internal turns count, and a torque
feedback system is included, though not used in this case.
