Almost as a by-product of our Projects business, Fugro-impROV have since 2004 developed a 3rd Party Products Business. This area of our business does not deal with our own products such as Subsea Torque Tools. What we do in Products is produce permanently installed sub-assemblies to Customer designs and specifications. Typically this means that we produce ROV Intervention Panels for Subsea Xmas Trees, Manifolds and other subsea structures.
The rationale by which this business evolved is quite simple. As Customers became familiar with Fugro-impROV through working with our Projects business to source their ROV Tooling, their trust in our knowledge of tooling and its interfaces developed. Those Customers began to see an opportunity to source sub-assemblies for their own structures from Fugro-impROV on a “turnkey” basis. Therefore we will commonly deliver complete ROV Intervention Panel “Kits” to Customers. These kits come crated and ready to bolt on to the subsea structure and include all the necessary valve interfaces, extension rods, fasteners, coatings etc to ensure a smooth assembly process at the Customer factory.
A great advantage of this approach from the Customer’s perspective is that Fugro-impROV can apply our knowledge and experience of interfacing ROV Tools with subsea structures to the Customer supplied design dossiers for the ROV Intervention Panel Kits, thereby adding a further level of design review to the Customers own process which ultimately results in very practical subsea hardware design.
